Continue Reading5/22/2023 – Came across the video here where the guy did what made sense with the pepper plants. He fed them every two weeks with superbloom and fish emulsion that we know works in the yard with many bloomers. Ours are ok but not dark green and not growing or putting on many blooms. Mixed […]
Continue Reading5/22/2023 – The corn that blew over last week is standing up and the shorter stalks are knee high. Sidedressed with 33-0-0 in a slot made by the hoe. Then pulled the soil back over the slot. On the 10 rows (600 ft) spread about 5 gallons of nitrogen. All in less than an hour.
Continue Reading5/7/2023 – Sidedressed the following with the time-release fertilizer. The peppers we started in the greenhouse and transplanted last week are still small. The tomatoes are dark green with many blooms and small green tomatoes. The intent is to fertilize the tomatoes and peppers with a low nitrogen level (5.45% initial then slow release at […]
Continue Reading5/7/2023 – Fertilized the three magnolias in the pond yard with the time-release fertilizer. Spread about a quart in a donut shape out from the mulch ring to 6 feet. The value is not the time release part but rather the trace elements.
Continue Reading4/28/2023 – This two-day sowing began with spreading 0-0-60 in the NE area and SE area where peas are to be sowed. Spread it with the cyclone seeder set at 3 to approximate 40 lbs per acre of potassium but as the product is 60% potassium went over it twice. The rate is per the […]
Continue Reading4/25/2023 – Spread 3 bags (150 lbs.) of 15-0-15 on the 1.1 acres. That is a little less than IFAS recommendations here. This has been called Ranger’s Field but he died a few months ago. Now Buddy and Molly, Ted’s Belgium Haflingers are there. Ran Fergie in 1H at 540 RPM with the spreader set […]
Continue ReadingThe Plan from 6/10/2021, applied in Spring 2022 and modified for this Spring The modified route this year is in the plan below where the length is about 1900 feet for a 39-foot width. There were places in that route where no fertilizer was spread. That equates to a theoretical 74 KSF = 1.7 acres […]
Continue Reading4/22/2023 – Based on advice at IFAS here, fed the bushes 15-0-15 as that is the closest to their recommendation (12-4-8) as I have on hand. High nitrogen, low phosphorus, and midrange potassium. The 15-0-15 has a higher potassium percentage wise but since our heavy rains and the ones in the pond yard have already […]
Continue Reading4/12/2023 – Sowed 10, 60-ft. rows of G-90 corn in the NW corner of the garden. The steps taken were much the same as in past years but differed in that hills were not pulled up over the fertilizer and used the middle buster to create a trench for the fertilizer. Ironically, last year’s corn […]
