Spring Garden 2019 as planted
Tomatoes:
- Row 16 – 6 plants plus 6 Mortage Lifter Improved
- Row 17 – 6 Plants Amelia
- Row 18 – 17 plants Big Boys, Better Boys and maybe 2 Mortgage Lifter Improved
- Total 35
Cucumbers – Poinsett 76 – 30 ft row – about 15 ‘hills’ with some having two plants.
Corn – Not including the two decorative varieties
- G-90: 9 50-foot rows = 450 LF
- Silver King – 4 avg 45-foot rows = 180 LF
- Total 9×50 + 4×45 = 630 LF of corn.
Squash
- Cocozelle zucchini – ~ 20 feet plus 4 hills of transplants
- Early Prolific Straight Neck – ~20 feet
Okra – Cajun Jewel, ~50 feet
Peas & Beans
- Pink Eye-Purple Hull – 2-30 ft rows early then 4-30 ft rows 2 weeks later. Total 180 ft. But, the Mandy overshadowed one row and the yield was way off.
- Kentucky Wonder Bush Beans – 2-30 ft rows but only one produced.
- Red Ripper (Mandy) – 1-30 ft row. Did not produce enough to count.
- Texas Cream Pea – 3-30 ft rows but the Mandy overshadowed one row and the yield was way off.
- Producing rows of peas: 2×30 + 3×30 + 2×30 = 210 LF
Peppers
- Bell Peppers – one 40 ft row
- Jalapeno – 6 plants
- Serranos – 6 plants
Spring Summary and Needs for 2020
- Okra – Cajun Jewel, 50 feet – Enough Mary said.
- Corn – 630 ft – need to plant 25% more
- Yellow Squash = 20 ft – Enough Mary said.
- Zucchini – 20 ft – Enough if it had made Mary said.
- Peas – 210 ft – Enough Mary said.
- Beans – 30 ft – Mary said needed twice as much
- Cucumbers – 30 ft, 15 hills – Enough Mary said.
- Tomatoes – 35 but low production – 35 should be enough for 2020
- Bell Peppers – 40 ft – was enough if most had produced
