Sowed MS Silver Crowders & PE-Purple Hull Top Pick

Gardening

4/28/2023 – This two-day sowing began with spreading 0-0-60 in the NE area and SE area where peas are to be sowed. Spread it with the cyclone seeder set at 3 to approximate 40 lbs per acre of potassium but as the product is 60% potassium went over it twice. The rate is per the SEVG manual. The idea here is that the potassium will not appreciably encourage weed growth and broadcasting it is much simpler than spreading between the tire tracks. This is the first time this scenario was used. The manual also recommended Phosphorus but that is always high so did not worry about it.

4/29/2023 – Sowed the MS Silver Crowder seeds using the Hoss seeder with plate no. 5 in the NE area and the Pink-Eye Purple Hull Top Pick in the SE area. That spaced them 2.9 inches apart.

It required less than 0.5 lb. of seed for each.

Thunderstorms are just off the coast and we are to get some rain.

The eastmost row in the north half was hilled after spreading 13-13-13 between the tracks to be ready to sow okra when it warms up.

Sunrise Temps

I was concerned that the predicted lows for the next 4-5 days are in the high 50s. The log below is to track the actual temps and see if that would impact the germination and they did NOT.
