Sowed Snow Peas in Mary’s Garden

Gardening

8/28/2021 – Sowed Oregon Giant Snow peas along the rail fence in Mary’s Garden with the HOSS seeder with Plate 5. Made two rows about 3-6″ apart with the inoculated seeds at 1¼ inches deep.

Removed one screw from the lower 1×4-inch support for the fence fabric that had been removed and rotated it up out of the way of the seeder so it could go past the posts. Will completely remove them, cut a new groove in the supports near the posts, and reinstall so the wire hangs on a slight angle more directly over the seedlings than it was for the tomatoes.

The soil temperature has been near the max for germination for snow peas per Cornell but today is to be cooler and cloudy with Hurricane Ida making landfall in southeast Louisiana tomorrow morning. The next three days are predicted to be cloudy with a lot of rain so the soil temperature should be below 85 degrees and then the rest of the week should be close to 85. May need to provide a sun block then.
