Continue Reading8/14/2019 – Finally, three bell peppers are producing fruit. Today, we picked ten 4″ to 2″ fruit. Most were lying on the ground from the hard rain yesterday. There is at least that much more on the bushes. These four are what is left from the 12 Bonnies plants bought at Lowe’s.

Continue Reading8/9/2019 – The soil report dated 7/26/2019 here recommends 1 ton/acre of lime and 120 lbs-0-60 lbs per acre of fertilizer. As the garden is about 1/3 acre it needs 40#-0-20#. The plan is to apply half the nitrogen as side dressing. So, a 15-0-15 fertilizer means: 15% of 50 lbs is 7.5# per bag. […]

Continue Reading7/23/2019 – For the fall garden, we started eight 2-inch pots with all but three of the 20 tiny tomato seeds bought at St. Elmo Feed and Seed. We started six 2-inch pots of Burpee’s Common Cilantro. The soil was about a 50:50 mixture of Miracle Grow’s Seed Starting blend and their potting soil.
