8/25/2025 – Sowed in the north half four rows of snap-style beans ordered from HOSS and posted here.
Site Preparation was Different
- Crab grass and other weeds took over after the corn and I regretfully let them get too big. Sprayed with Gly+2,4-D (4oz+1oz per gallon), and it all died in about 2 weeks. Mowed the dead weeds down then one day, disked 5-6 times a week or so later, and the weeds and corn stalks were slightly visible.
- Drove Fergie to mark the rows (did not hill them), then raked out the dead root clumps and debris from the center.
- Sowed the seed with the HOSS Seeder using a modified Plate 4 (enlarged holes) for the Green Blaze and the Standard Plate 6 for the Navajos. The modified Plate 4 was one of two originally ordered and is now marketed as 4+.
