4/21/2023 – Planted the peppers Mary raised from seed in the greenhouse immediately south of the pepper and tomato plants bought at G&D; i.e. the row east of the first tomato row next to the sunflowers. Had __ seedlings survived when her original sowing was:
- Charleston Belle Sweet bell peppers. 12 pots with two seeds each
- Carolina Cayenne Hot Peppers – 12 pots with 2 seeds each
Rain predicted for today did not occur and the newly emerged corn will soon suffer as no rain is predicted until next week- 5 days away. Rain the oscillating sprinkler—in the corn rows only—in three locations for full coverage on this windy day.
The broccoli and cabbage seedlings have not grown well after emerging and my concern is the packed soil. Used the 4-tine hoe to break the crust along both sides of the tiny seedlings.
Also broke the crust on either side of the tomatoes and peppers.
