4/25/2023 – Spread 3 bags (150 lbs.) of 15-0-15 on the 1.1 acres. That is a little less than IFAS recommendations here. This has been called Ranger’s Field but he died a few months ago. Now Buddy and Molly, Ted’s Belgium Haflingers are there.
Ran Fergie in 1H at 540 RPM with the spreader set on 3 to spread 155 lbs per acre. The 150 lbs. ran out just after finishing. The last swath was from the round pen toward the garden when it ran out but that area had already been covered.
Did not throw any through the garden fence to not make the weeds and grass grow faster.
Sprayed GrazonNext
At 30 psi going 3 MPH (1H at ~500 RPM) it should spray 11.4 gal/ac over a max 30-foot swath.
In the Ag Sprayer sprayer mixed:
- 12 gallons of water
- 1.5 pints of Grazon per the label for 1 acre and that is the upper end of the range.
- 6 oz. nonionized surfactant
Sprayer Observations
- The side sprays ended about 5 steps beyond the near rear tire.
- It quit spraying with about 50% of the NS distance to go next to the trees on the east side.
- Also did not drive inside the ring to spray the center but did go around the outside of the ring close to the ring; the spray went inside about 4 steps but did not reach the center.
- There were about 2 gallons left in the tank that was caught in a 5-gallon bucket. Sprayed it with the backpack sprayer around the water trough, inside the ring, and along the east fence/tree line.
