Sowed Elbon Rye in Garden & Ryegrass on Ranger’s field

Gardening Pastures

10/28/2022 – Sowed Elbon Rye in the garden as a cover crop. Disked it in with the disk only 1-2 inches deep.

Spread 25 lbs. of Winter Ryegrass on Ranger’s field other than a maybe 50-ft wide swath from the north garden fence along the east fence to the north fence. That was more seed than was called for but given it is overseeded over the slow-growing Bahia grass, hopefully, some will come up. Along the west side, the weeds are 6″ plus high and the hope is it will sprout there and Ranger will not pull it up too early. In the Bahia grass areas, he has it eaten down close.

Given the predicted rain tomorrow afternoon, the hope is it will all do well. We have only gotten about 0.6 inches of rain since 9/17/22; i.e. 6+ weeks.
