8/21/2023 – Today Bay Well Service replaced the pump that has a 5-year warranty per Ed Williams. The cost was $1600. The new pump is a 4″ submersible, 20 GPM, 1 HP.
On 11/29/16 we paid $3400 for the new well and pump. It lasted 7 years given the Cow water tanks, drip, and sprinkler operations, and the related frequent stop-and-starts. Those many stop-starts surely reduced its life.
Background – The pump had begun last Thursday to stop and not restart for a few minutes. Ed came on 8/18/2023 and determined it was the starter switch in the pump that was not energizing the starter coils in the motor every time. The pump would run fine once it was going.
We opened the pond valve so the pump would not turn off and we had slightly reduced pressure in the house all weekend. Life was good.
We now have a new pump and what looks to be a good water supply as Mary requires.
