Planted Basil in Garden Row

Gardening

5/23/2023 – Planted in the garden basil seedlings Mary grew from seed in a grow box in the greenhouse. The seed was Prospera® DMR (CG1)Organic (F1) Basil Seed. Had good luck and few disease issues last year.

Mary dug them from the grow box and put each cluster in a small pot to keep the damp root ball intact. Planted the nine clusters in the afternoon once the row was in the shade of the pecan tree. Spaced them about 18 inches apart in the row where broccoli failed; i.e. south half next to the tomato/pepper row that is the second row from the sunflowers that are now blooming.

As soon as we see the one in each cluster that is the strongest the others will be sniped and cooked.

See Johnny’s Seeds here about harvesting.
