Sprayed Weeds South Side of Pond

Pond

The grassed space south of the pond from the rail fence to 40 feet from the water’s edge is 20,800 SF. It contains many weeds in the original bahiagrass and sown Bermuda grass. This spray is to kill them and hopefully the dewberries.

Sprayer Parameters

  • Ironton Sprayer with the new pump sprays 3/8 of a gallon in 33 seconds travel time to spray 1,000 SF. So, to spray 43.560 KSF/acre at 3/8 gallon/KSF = 16.33 gallons needed to spray 1 acre. So, 13 gallons will spray 0.8 acres; 13/16.33 = 0.8 acres = 34.8 KSF
  • One gallon will spray; 1 divided by 3/8 gal/KSF= 2.6 KSF = 2,600 SF

Area to spray – 20,800 SF

So, mix 20,800/2,600 = 8 gallons + 10% = 8.8. So, prep and spray 9 gallons. Mix:

  • 2,4-D Amine – 9 oz.
  • Non-ionic surfactant at 0.64 oz./gallon = 5.76 oz. Add 6 oz.
