Side dressed tomatoes lightly with a mixture of 13-13-13 plus 0-0-60
A new tomato side-dressing mixture devised here is to reduce the N (the vines are growing fast with the 13-13-13 below the hill) while providing a high level of potassium as recommended in the link from TomatoDirt.com below. The tomatoes are healthy and grow vines and blooming great. Therefore, only a light side dressing is added.
- Mixed 4 pounds (2 quarts) 13-13-13 to 2 pounds (1 quart) of 0-0-60 so there will be 5 lbs that contain:
- 0.52 lbs N
- 0.52 lbs P
- 1.72 lbs K (0.52+1.2)
- So, each pound of the new blend contains 1-1-3.5.
From TomatoDirt.com. – Once a tomato plant starts flowering, it needs a higher ratio of potassium for fruit to develop (the third number in the N-P-K ratio). The strong third number in this fertilizer (10-12-27) indicates that it will help tomato plants produce healthy, quality fruit!
Staked & Tied Peppers
Installed stakes in the row and a half of peppers and tied them with the line but not in-and-out like a Florida weave.
