6/25/2021 – We mixed 75 gallons (3 25-gallon tanks) of our Concoction that is based on the Modified Hooker Formula for daylilies. The mix below was measured into a 2.5-gallon watering can and water added to dilute it. We used the 3/4″ ID tubing to distribute the mix on all the beds and plants in them. See below for a summary of those plants.
- 1.5 cup (24 Tbls) Miracle Grow (Crystals)
- 1.5 cup liquid iron – Southern Ag’s Chelate Liquid Iron that is 5% total Iron and 3.4% sulfur
- 1.5 cup fish emulsion
- 1.5 cup Epsom Salts
Poured the ingredients in a watering can and ran water in full force to mix it. Poured that into the white barrel sitting in the back of the Gator.
The volumes were based on a second test to fill a 5-gallon bucket from the hose at the veggie cleaning slab bib. On April 13, 2020, we clocked the time it took, and today, like last year, it took 20-21 seconds to fill a 5-gallon bucket. We used that rate to figure how long to add water to get 24-gallons (roughly minus the 2.5 gallons of mix) in the white plastic drum.
With the 35-gallon white plastic drum lying on its side and the base sitting on a 4″x4″ the water level came within less than an inch of the upper bung when the stopwatch showed the time was up; i.e. 80 seconds.
